Academic Internships Academic Internships are collaborative arrangements between approved country offices, an academic institution, and WOA Headquarters. These internships are open to upper-division or graduate students who seek appointments for a limited period of time, usually a minimum of three months, at a field site or in WOA Headquarters to fulfill an academic requirement or gain professional experience. Internships are for students who have completed significant course work related to the appointments they seek. While internships provide an exposure to field and/or headquarters development and relief operations and an opportunity for professional development, regular employment with WOA is not guaranteed at the conclusion of the internship. Interested interns must apply for regular employment with WOA and will be considered with other qualified candidates. Field Internships Field Internships are collaborative arrangements between established Partner organizations and WOA Headquarters. Field internships are designed for mature, qualified individuals seeking a career in international development. The purpose of these internships is to provide field training and is intended to lead to consideration for employment. Applicants wishing to be considered for internship positions must indicate their interest in a specific program when making a resume submission. Individuals accepted for intern positions may qualify to have their international airfare, emergency medical and health insurance and accommodation at project location partially sponsored by WOA scholarships and Partner organizations.
